If your Tele-flavored cup of tea involves lightweight Ash, rift sawn Maple, a hot bridge pickup, and a chunky neck? You've just found your new fave Telecaster.
Why We Love This
To call a spade a spade, this is a fantastic looking Telecaster! Aged/Faded Copper finish in a Journeyman level relic (with extra weather checking that really pops on a metallic color) with a heavy relic neck (no finish on the back of the neck for an insta-comfort feel) make this slightly tweaked '55 Tele unique. But we all know looks only get you so far in life, right? Not to fear, there's substance to back up these good looks.
Weighing in a 7lbs 2oz, this 2 piece Ash bodied Tele feels great in hand. It's paired with a chunky '54 U Carve and hot bridge pickup and when taken together, these specs deliver a really comfy, broken-in, resonant and lively Telecaster.
Tonally, we're talking classic twang and bite and a sweet, slightly warm neck pickup. Tele's like this are right at home in roots/Americana settings, but, like any great Tele, can rock with the best of them with a cranked amp and you're fave overdrive. Jazz more of your thing? Frisell has shown us how well Tele's live in that genre, this guitar is no exception.
