If you’ve played a Jeff Beck Strat, you’ll immediately “get” what this guitar is going for. It’s got its own vibe and voice, but there’s a clear tip of the hat to Jeff’s legacy - and we’re here for it.
Cracking open the case on this Custom Deluxe Strat, we were immediately reminded of the vibe of the Eric Johnson Signature Strat, specifically the rosewood board variants (though this one skips the bound fingerboard).
But once we got it in-hand, the connection shifted: this guitar feels a bit like a Jeff Beck Strat... minus the signature branding. The '65 C neck profile (.82–.974") has that same chunky-yet-comfortable shape, and the spec sheet checks more boxes: 2-post Custom Classic tremolo, block saddles, 22 frets, and locking Schaller tuners all nod to the Beck build.
Tones come courtesy of Custom Shop Fat ’60s pickups, which we love for their beefier low end, thanks to the overwound Alnico 2 design. You still get the chime and quack a good Strat should deliver, just with a little more muscle behind it. We're all reaching for boost pedals with our Strats, right? This just helps get you a little closer sans pedals.
