This 1946 Gibson Southern Jumbo has just come into the shop on trade! It's an excellent guitar for a player who values tone over cosmetics ... but now that we say that, forget it. This thing looks AMAZING. No heavy relic guitar has this sort of feel in hand or look from across the room. The sound is extremely balanced for a large-bodied guitar, with penetrating power and clarity in all registers. It's an authoritative rhythm guitar for strumming behind a band; and it also projects with ease when used as a single-note flatpicking instrument. The voice is pure Gibson: woody and dry, with intense horsepower in the midrange.

Condition: it's likely evident from looking at the photos, that this guitar has been played, and played heavily. The top shows playwear down to bare wood around the soundhole and in front of the bridge; and this area has localized finish touch up. One repaired top crack, one repaired back crack, and the scattered finish chipping / peeling emblematic of so many mid-40's Gibsons. The bridge has been replaced; and our shop has just refretted the fingerboard. In all? A great-playing SJ with tone and vibe to spare. Priced with non-original hard case.
