Product information

This 1945 "Banner" Gibson LG2 was acquired from the collection of a longtime client; and it's a beautiful little example of what these guitars can be. It's a very warm-sounding instrument, without the intense degree of midrange honk these guitars sometime exhibit (it would record extremely well, if you're looking for a Gibson to live in the studio). Its lovely, balanced voice takes very well to a bare-fingered vocal accompaniment application; and single notes jump right out of it with a rounded-off, yet very clear, articulation.
Condition: on the scale of Banner LG2 models writ large, this one is in very good vintage condition. The bridge is a contemporary replacement, but all other components, including internal bracing and bridge plate, are original. There's one repaired top crack, and one in the treble side. The neck has been reset, and the fingerboard refretted, here in our shop; and the action now measures 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" (treble side) under tension of light gauge strings. The guitar shows the expected lacquer checking and various dings, knicks, and scratches associated with well-played vintage instruments. Priced with a contemporary black hardshell case.
