Product information

Exhibiting the classic features from the mid-1930's L-00 era, including the wider, black-and-orange sunburst, kerfed linings, and chunky, V-shaped neck, this guitar has an aesthetic that's classic enough to grace the cover of a Gibson reference book.

Vintage Gibson L-00 variants don't get better than this one from 1936. Exhibiting the classic features from the mid-1930's L-00 era, including the wider, black-and-orange sunburst, kerfed linings, and chunky, V-shaped neck, this guitar has an aesthetic that's classic enough to grace the cover of a Gibson reference book. And the sound is powerful, clear, and balanced, with more than enough horsepower for a heavy flatpicker. Whereas the earlier, more lightly constructed 14-fret L-00 variants from 1933 & 1934 may reward a delicate, nuanced touch, their tops and stuctures may not deliver the kind of superpower this guitar is capable of in an old-time setting. That's not to say this instrument isn't responsive for fingerstyle playing -- it's merely to suggest that it may be a dream guitar for a flatpick player who's been on the hunt for a small-bodied Gibson.

This guitar is exceptionally clean, with its original sturcture completely intact and crack-free. Its finish shows the expected amount of checking, alongisde scratches and dings consistent with regular use. The original bridge has been sanded down slightly from the top; and the fingerboard has been refretted. Priced with a modern hardshell case. Expedited shipping only at online checkout -- interested buyers are welcome to contact us for Ground options.
