Product information

1979 Fender Musicmaster Bass just in! These short scale Fender basses are such a joy to play, and much like their predecessor the Mustang Bass, their simplicity and great tone have made them one of the best values in a vintage electric bass that you're going to find.

This was recently acquired by its original owner, and besides the thumb rest being moved back on the pickguard at some point, has remained essentially untouched. It's got a great medium C neck profile and playability is excellent with a nice straight neck.

It was seemingly subject to some prolonged moisture and/or humidity on the body; the polyurethane started to check and chip primarily on the lower bout with some evidence of similar reactions on the cutaway areas. It seems relatively stable, but it's possible that the finish could continue to flake off down the road. However, there are other examples of late 70s Musicmaster Basses that have suffered similar fates with respect to their finishes.

The good news is that the rest of the bass is very healthy and working great! All of the electronics are original and fully functional.

If you're not afraid of a natural relic of sorts, this Musicmaster Bass is such a fantastic instrument, begging to be paired with its next owner.

Priced with original Fender chipboard case (fair).
