Fender Telecaster, White (1969)

Originally finished in Blonde, this late 60s transitional Telecaster came to us from its second owner who had purchased it in the early 70s as a refinished guitar. The guitar was a mainstay for the owner, who ended up adorning the top with his band's name - Huntoons (short for Gutless Huntoons for those curious) - in period block decal lettering. The refinish is more like a body overspray, as there's plenty of evidence of original finish beneath the "spray can" White top coat from play wear and in the neck pocket cavity. Whoever did the finish work was clearly in a bit of a rush, as they left the neck pickup inside the guitar while applying it!

It's got some of the more distinctive 1969 features like the lack of an exposed wire channel rout for the neck pickup, 3-ply pickguard with pearloid backing, and a one-piece Maple neck with skunk stripe and green ink stamp serial number on the neck heel. The originally wiring harness has remained, with 1 MEG pots dating to the 31st week of 1966 and 34th week of 1966, respectively, along with an original 3-way switch. The knobs are also original, and it's sporting a repro top hat switch tip. The original six-digit F stamp neck plate dates it to 1969 as well.

Both pickups had their respective leads cut inside the control cavity (in line with that rushed finish work presumably), and have been cleanly spliced back together. The neck pickup presents as original to the guitar, and the bridge pickup appears to be an early grey-bottom replacement. The bridge and saddles are original.
