Product information
If you never though you could find a vintage SG with a truly fat neck - we're talking early/mid 50s carve and bigger - let the record show that some of these early 70s examples put the 'c' in 'chunky'.
This 1971 Gibson SG Special came to us from a local customer who'd acquired this back in the late 70s, and features a substantially fat neck you won't find on many other SGs throughout any production period. The twin P90 pickups have some great output with nice midrange throatiness and a strong top end cut.
There's evidence of an old but stable headstock repair, running right along the volute. It required no further attention from us and the guitar is performing great. We installed a MojoAxe CWT-60 tailpiece for enhanced intonation with a plain G string. Weighing in at a lean 6lb 10oz, it feels nicely balanced while retaining acoustic resonance and sustain.
Priced with Gator hardshell case.
