Product information

This 1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe may well be the loudest guitar in our shop at the moment! It's crack free, and has long ago been converted to 'Spanish' from its original Hawaiian setup, sporting a full thickness, vintage-appropriate, yet nicely playable, neck carve. Our friend and colleague, Mark Stutman, of Folkway Music, has also worked on the guitar in the past, replacing the bridge & bridgeplate, and setting it up for spot-on intonation. This is a powerhouse rhythm guitar, with a warm, dark voice, that'd make an incredible old-time back-up instrument for the player anchoring a stringband.

We rate this guitar in good vintage condition. As noted, the bridge and bridgeplate have been replaced. And the neck has been reshaped and refinished in accordance with its conversion to Spanish setup. Our shop has inspected the entire instrument and given it a clean bill of health. After 90 years, it's still going strong! Priced with a modern hardshell case.
