A modern interpretation of the funky student model builds of the '60s—and a far more refined one at that.
While the Koll Troubadour gives a nod to Leo Fender’s blueprint (with some tweaks)—bolt-on neck construction, long scale length, Jazzmaster style bridge/tremolo (via Mastery), —this is no remake. Why? Saul Koll doesn’t do retreads, each of his builds are unique and 100% Koll.
Subtle design choices set this guitar apart: the Pearl “Euro” inlays, Rosewood fingerboard, the straight string pull Tornado headstock (borrowed from another brilliant Koll design), and the overall fit and feel suggest a more modern interpretation of the funky student model builds of the '60s—and a far more refined one at that.
Loaded with a Novak GTV in the bridge position and a lipstick pickup in the neck, this mahogany bodied Troubadour will twang and jangle when played clean, but can also get into fantastic lo-fi overdriven tones when pushed. It’s made for players who want something nuanced, expressive, and frankly, fun to play.
What really separates the Troubadour is its feel—sleek, fast, and a badass, to be honest. Dynamic, resonant, and full of personality, this is Saul doing what he does best: creating something familiar, yet totally fresh.
