Product information

A true workingman's Telecaster, this '53 has lived a full life as a pro musician's ace and has the honest wear and unmistakable vibe to prove it

1953 Fender Telecaster #4606 in Blonde finish just in on consignment!

File this one under the "The stories this guitar could tell" category! This '53 was the undisputed Number One guitar for local blues guitarist and artist Steve Stanley for decades, and it shows! Steve purchased this tele from Gruhn c. 1982-1983, and it quickly rose up the ranks to become his go-to electric.

This is a mid-year build that still retains almost all of its original parts save for a replaced pickguard. Still, the original pickups remain along with the original harness (modified long ago for modern wiring), original no-line Kluson tuners, bridge, control plate and knobs.

The neck has clearly been oversprayed in what we imagine was done during an old refret. Original finish pops through in areas, especially at the butt of the neck, where the pencil date was not impacted at all. It's old finish for sure, and has seen as many miles as the original finish had!

The body seemed to have had a little bit of overspray, albeit much less than the neck. Again, original finish underneath and all of the nail holes are clear and visible. Our guess is that some of the worn areas got a little spritzing without any disassembly, as there's no indication of a full body finish treatment.

Like many great early Blackguards, this Tele has a smooth, warm neck pickup coupled with a strong, powerful bridge pickup. Plenty of twang to go around, but the bass and low mid response of the bridge pickup makes it a formidable rock guitar as well.

Paired with a reissue Fender poodle hardshell case.
