Ariel Posen’s Custom Shop Stratocaster blends mid-’60s Fender feel with AP-90 versatility, delivering a resonant, hardtail platform built for dynamic slide work, rich chords, and expressive touch.

Ariel Posen has built a reputation on touch, feel, and tone - the kind of playing where slide work, chord voicings, and dynamics all live side by side. His Custom Shop Stratocaster reflects that approach. It’s a purposeful blend of familiar Fender DNA and the features Ariel relies on night after night.

The roasted alder body and quartersawn flame maple neck deliver the dry, quick response you expect from a well broken-in mid-’60s Strat, while the round-lam rosewood board adds a touch of warmth under the fingers. It’s a guitar that feels lived-in from the first note.

The heart of the build is the AP-90 pickup set, developed with Tim Shaw to give Ariel a wide but focused tonal palette. The neck pickup leans into the clarity and warmth of a great Jazzmaster unit; the bridge carries the punch and midrange presence of a classic soapbar.

Together, they cover clean, percussive rhythm work just as easily as the pushed, vocal sustain Ariel is known for. Paired with the vintage-style hardtail bridge, the guitar has a natural resonance and steadiness that rewards subtle phrasing as much as heavier attack.

Playability is shaped by a comfortable ’69 “U” neck carve, 9.5" radius, and vintage upgrade frets, modern enough for clean bends and articulation, but still authentically Fender in the hand. Simplified controls, cupcake knobs, and the Caballo Férreo wiring keep the layout intuitive and stage-ready.

Additional details include mother-of-pearl dots, parchment guard, vintage tuners, bone nut, and the complete Ariel Posen accessory set: hardshell case, Moody Leather strap, Rock Slide brass slide, Dunlop picks, and a certificate of authenticity.
