Gibson's sophisticated stereo semi-hollow electric hits high marks in tone, looks, and vibe!

1962 Gibson ES-345TD in original Cherry finish just into the shop!

"Tell me you've played one guitar your entire life without telling you've played one guitar your entire life" is the phrase we immediately thought of upon first laying eyes on this PAF-loaded beauty. When you've cratered your way through the finish under the E/B string and right through the top ply of the original pickguard, you know you've put in the play time!

With guitars this great sounding and playing, natural play wear at this level should come as no surprise. The original PAFs sound absolutely amazing, with just the right amount of output to drive an amp, yet not so hot that it won't shine through a clean and with clarity and chime. The Slim Taper neck has a little more meat on the bone than what we often see in the two years prior, with a touch more depth across the taper that feels super comfortable and speedy without being too thinned out.

The guitar was in dire need of new frets, having come in with the originals still hanging on for dear life. The original nylon saddles were nearly worn down to dust as well. We installed some fresh Jescar 45100 fretwire along with a new nut and new nylon saddles to re-establish the great playability we knew it once had. Beyond that, some thorough cleaning of the electronics and mechanical contact points had this 345 right back in action.

There's a small amount of binding repair on the treble side of the fingerboard, but all in all, finish and binding have held up quite well. The original label is quite faded out, but original to the instrument.

The guitar is free of breaks or structural repairs, and even with the Bigbsby B7 tailpiece, is weighs in just under 8.5lbs on our scale. It's an incredibly lively guitar acoustically, and still has some nice punch and focus we find many of the 3x5 guitars have from the early 60s.

The original Black pebble Lifton hardshell case might be the coolest companion you'll find, with loads of interesting stickers of the guitar's early days out on the west coast. It's beat, but still doing the job!
