Product information

Gibson's introduction of the ES-325TD came on the heels of their launch of the Les Paul Deluxe some three years prior, which was a way of integrating mini humbuckers into their electrics. What many have described as "Gibsons for Fender players", the mini humbucker loaded Gibsons have become some of the more endearing models of the Norlin Era.

This '72 ES-325TD has the full 70s aesthetic, combining the Walnut finish with the top mounted control plate and black body binding, along with the wider headstock shape, block serif logo, and chrome hardware. The neck profile is more closely related to the carves of '70-'71, which tend to have a fatter, more aggressive taper.

The Firebird mini humbuckers combined with the semi-hollow construction impart a particularly hi-fi like tonality without being shrill or sterile sounding. The clarity of these pickups work really well in enhancing the acoustic woodiness, approaching the tone of an old Gretsch in some ways.

The guitar has just gone through our repair shop and received a fresh refret, replacing the original fretwire that was quite worn out after decades of steady use. The guitar was outfitted with Schallers many years ago, and since the old Kluson tuner mounting holes had been filled, we elected to leave them be. Right in line with the 70s aesthetic!

The guitar ships in its original hardshell case which is in good condition.
