Product information

A vintage hot rod tele not to be overlooked, this hybrid single cut is one of the more inspiring and flat out excellent sounding teles in the shop right now.

How do you get a 1971 Fender Telecaster neck bolted to a Warmoth tele body and sandwich it together with a mix of late 50s AND modern tele parts and electronics?! We don't have the complete answer here, but we can tell you that the results are pretty outstanding.

This vintage partscaster recently came in on consignment from the family of Steve Stanley, a local and longtime blues artist who had ties to the likes of Buddy Guy and Roy Buchanan. It's estimated that Steve relied heavily on this guitar for gigs, as it gave him the tone and feel of a true vintage guitar without worrying so much about having a valuable all-original tele out on the road with him.

And honestly, this is exactly what many working musicians hope to find in a guitar like this. The Warmoth body is made of wonderfully figured Ash and is quite lightweight. The neck has a nice, chunky profile that feels perfectly worn in and outfitted with some jumbo frets for a slick playing experience. The pickups and electronics were married together with a vintage stagger-pole bridge pickup and modern neck pickup, along with late 50s potentiometers, a newer 3-way switch, and 70s knobs.

If you ignore some of these technical specs and just play the guitar, you'll start to understand what we've all been experiencing with this tele. It's the sum of the parts making it all work, and not the parts themselves. It's a punchy, bright, and powerful tele with the perfect voice for rock, blues, and country guitar.

Priced with a c. 1980s Fender ABS hardshell case.
