An enchanced version of a timeless staple in Collings's lineup.

The flagship D2H from Collings Guitars features herringbone purfling on what is otherwise, essentially, a vintage D-28 platform. The Collings sound is tight, crisp, and warm all at once, with a big, well-defined bass and those "singing" trebles that their legion of fans can't get enough of.

The Q-top wonderfully enhances those qualities. It feels as though there is just a little bit extra in the sound: more dynamic range, a bit more bass, and a bit more volume. It's a small upgrade that makes a big difference.

What's a Q Top? We could bore you with a diatribe about parametric equalizers, tap tones, etc. But suffice it to say: Q Tops have been tested by Pacific Rim Tonewoods, and have been found to have the lowest level of acoustic damping of all the wood in their inventory. Low damping typically equates to increased resonance and responsiveness, alongside all the other qualities we look for in a great instrument (sustain, lushness, complexity of sound).
