Product information

This guitar is one of the warmest L-00 that's come through the shop, with a round, present midrange and gorgeous, fat trebles.

If Gibson L-00 from 1933 and 1934 are typically known by the "Small 'Burst" descriptor, this one might be an extra-small. Its top shading is so closed-in that it's east to mistake it for a jet-black guitar from afar.

This one-owner L-00 has been played a lot -- and we think it looks great as a result. The small-burst, top-bound-only, heavy-play wear look is the basis for many builders trying their hand at a relic'd finish in the modern era; and this real-deal relic looks absolutely wonderful hanging in our back office amongst newer guitar waiting to hit the showroom floor.

L-00 from this 1933/1934 era are also defined by their solid (not kerfed) linings and extremely light build structure, which yields a unique combination of warmth and punch. The subject guitar is one of the warmest L-00 that's come through the shop, with a round, present midrange and gorgeous, fat trebles. For a guitarist interested in a versatile L-00 that doesn't have the extra-chunky neck of a guitar made between 1935-1938, this one would be a fantastic choice.

We rate this guitar in very good vintage condition. Although it shows extensive playwear (please see photos), it's remarkably free of structural repairs and cracks. The bridge has been replaced in the past, and our shop has just performed a neck reset and refret. New tuners have also been installed to replace the mismatched strips of non-original machines that were on the guitar when we received it. Priced with non-original hard case.
