Wm. Stahl Style #6, made by Larson Bros. (1931)

Guitars like this Stahl Style 6 are often overshadowed by their Martin and Gibson contemporaries. But make no mistake, these are fantastic sounding instruments as intricately crafted as the best guitars of the 1930's. Built by the Larson Brothers for musician / teacher / reseller, William Stahl, this guitar is roughly comparable in size to a Martin 00 -- with a shallower body and more pronounced top radius. The result is a very woody & direct sound, with lots of punch in the midrange, making it a great small-bodied flatpicker.

This guitar is in excellent, original condition, with no cracks and a beautiful, original finish. Its gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood body and intricate marquetry are wonderful reminders of a bygone era, and, if we're being honest, add a romantic element to the pleasure of playing this guitar. While the saddle is low, and doesn't allow for further lowering of the action without neck reset, the guitar plays nicely as it is, with action measuring 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" (treble side).
