The Thorn SoCal G/T isn’t just a reintroduction - it’s really a statement of everything Ron Thorn does best and we're all about it.

The G/T returns to the Thorn lineup with a fresh look and feel that show just how far Ron’s craft has come. Originally introduced with his engraved-plated guitars, the body shape has been refined into something that feels effortlessly modern while still paying homage to Thorn’s early work.

Since his run as a Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilder and eventual Head of the shop, Ron has only sharpened his reputation for precision and artistry. That experience is baked into the new G/T - it’s a guitar with a substantial, solid feel that translates into incredible sustain and punch. At the same time, it plays with the ease and refinement you’d expect from Thorn, all while maintaining the kind of “old soul” vibe.

This particular G/T is finished in a lightly aged Caramel Burst nitro over a one-piece Swamp Ash body, with a stunning 3A Birdseye Maple neck capped by an old-growth Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. Subtle yet striking details - grained ivoroid binding, pickguard, inlays, and pickup cover inserts - tie it all together.

Hardware is pure Thorn innovation: a compensated Thorn Brass Knuckle single-piece saddle on a custom chopped bridge plate, locking tuners (no string tree needed), and a sleek custom control plate. Loaded with Ron’s hand-wound GT-90 pickups, the tones are muscular, clear, and have enough range to handle whatever inspiration throws your way, clean or overdriven.
