The lightness of build on this Martin 1931 Authentic 00-17 is astounding. No wonder the sound is so alive and open. The key to this lightness is the absence of an adjustable truss rod (highly overrated in the guitar world!). Martin makes up for this lack with a slightly thicker neck profile which is also key to this model's sustain (more mass, better tonal transmission!). You could spend twice as much to find a vintage 00-17 or you could quit the hunt, grab this very vintage-sounding version and delve into the wealth of blues-y, roots-y, woody Martin tones this guitar delivers in spades.
