Gibson Les Paul Custom (1969)

Gibson closed out their legendary run of guitar production in the 1960s with the reintroduction of the iconic Les Paul in 1968. With the new-issue Standard model featuring P90 pickups and then newly adapted Mini-humbuckers for the model, the Les Paul Custom became the only version to feature full size humbuckers. The Les Paul Custom of 1968-1969 has become one of the most sought after vintage electrics in recent years.

Just in from one of our great local customers, we're thrilled to have this 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom in original Black finish! It has distinctive transitional features like small volute, 3-piece Mahogany neck, and 2-piece "pancake" Mahogany body, all while delivering an incredible tone and feel with the natural wear and vibe we love to see on a Golden Era vintage electric.

The guitar comes in just shy of 10lbs - quite common for Customs of the era - but still feels quite comfortable and balanced. The medium carve C neck is a total joy to play, made better by a fantastic refret inside the binding nibs by the talented Jason Burns out of Birmingham, AL. While the original pickup covers had once been removed (likely for aesthetic reasons), the electronics remain original to the guitar and are in excellent working order. There's evidence of light overspray on the back of the neck, applied as a preventative measure to protect some of the bare spots from play wear. The body finish remains original.

Classic punch with airy top end is what a great LP will give you, and this one certainly delivers! This is a true vintage performance machine in every sense, and needs nothing but some eager hands and a great amp to get things going.
