Fender Stratocaster, Sunburst (1958)

A fully intact pencil date of 10-58 corresponds with the 10/58 body pencil date found in the middle pickup rout of the body. Original Kluson single line tuners function very well. The original Fender decal has deteriorated moderately, but remains identifiable. It's fairly common to see decals from this period shed away from the headstock, some even disappearing completely.

The original Sunburst finish is gorgeous, with just the right amount of fading and wear that you'd expect a great electric like this to show. There's some moderate to heavy finish wear on the back of the body, which only adds to the vibe! Removing the original single-ply pickguard from the guitar reveals clean, original pickup routs with proper nail holes and correct worm rout in the bridge pickup cavity. The aforementioned pencil date of 10/58 is clearly legible in the middle pickup cavity. An original Fender tremolo bridge with its original Pat Pend saddles are in great shape, and it's currently setup for standard floating action with its original tremolo arm.

Factory original electronics throughout are fully functional and work without issue. The original black bobbin pickups are clear, woody, and bright, with great chime and harmonic bloom. Original Stackpole potentiometers date to the 38/39th week of 1958.

An original late 50s Tweed hardshell case accompanies this beauty, which is in very good shape overall. The Tweed exterior shows some wear and staining but is still well-adhered to the plywood. The interior lining is also in good shape. Hinges are intact and functional, although the spring mechanism has worn out on each hinge lock latch.
