Max Girouard is really onto something with his take on the guitar-bodied octave mandolin. Essentially a scaled-down version of a late-'20s Gibson L-5, this octave mando is a blast to play! Mandolin fingerings are still within reach in many of the open string-friendly keys, and chord work is a breeze, thanks in part to the the comfy 1.338" nut width and and a very comfortable 20.25" scale length, the latter something we custom spec'd with Max. Most importantly, the tone is there: warm and wide open, equally well suited to melody or chord work. This example is a 2020 model, and comes to us with very little previous play wear.
