Product information

A sonorous, wood-forward octave mandolin in a comfortable, cutaway-guitar-bodied design, all the way from the New Zealand.

Hard to believe it has been about twenty years since we first started carrying Paddy Burgin's instruments here. While Paddy's deep-bodied Weissenborn guitars have become mainstays here, we also bring in his Celtic-family instruments when we can. In both cases, Burgin offers a remarkable value in a highly musical, handmade, single-luthier instrument.

This "Macca"-bodied octave features a Sitka spruce top, beautiful Tasmanian blackwood back and sides, and delivers a big, warm, open voice with crazy sustain. The long, even-taper neck makes for a comfortable playing experience whether played open or with a capo high up the neck. A wonderful instrument for session, recording, or everyday enjoyment!
