Collings' brilliant, modern take on the teardrop, oval hole A mandolin. Bright, full, with substantial low mids and great sustain—a perfect cross between an MT2 and a 'teens Gibson A model.
Why We Love This
For those of us who enjoy the open richness of an oval-hole mandolin, but who still need an instrument with great definition, volume, liveliness and projection, the MT2 O (for "oval") is damn near mandolin perfection. It boasts a nice, round low end, clear mids and treble registers, and excellent sustain. Open chords sound wonderful and single-note melodies ring out with a satisfyingly plump fullness. Folks coming from either guitar or a 'teens Gibson will appreciate the slightly wider, 1 3/16" nut width.
This mandolin comes to us in very good overall condition, with just normal signs of wear: finish settling, a super light impression left from an armrest, and a touch of wear on the headstock.
Please note: Used instruments are, well, used. We pride ourselves on thoroughly vetting, and carefully photographing, each preowned instrument we sell, but many of them carry subtle signs of handling that can escape even the most discerning eye. If you have questions about the condition of this instrument, we invite you to call us for an in-hand description. We're here to help!
