New D2 (think classic style-28 appointments) from luthier Matthew Arcara of Portland, Maine. This is our second available guitar to feature Matt's sunburst finish, and the first Brazilian Rosewood guitar of his we've had in several years. As looks go, this is a textbook herringbone dreadnought; and as sound goes, it's about as powerful and balanced as a new guitar gets. It's woody, clear, and warm, with a great glassy high end and thick midrange making it perfectly suited to bluegrass. Outfitted with an adjustable truss rod, and PLEK'd at TJ Thompson's shop during final setup, this D2 would slot in nicely to the collection of a flatpicker looking for that modern D-28 style guitar that'll hang in a jam and sing sweetly when played solo.
