Product information

A slinky, snappy LP-style build with real Tele-like bite, vintage feel, and the kind of responsiveness that's nearly impossible to find in a new instrument.

Building under the name Buildaburst, Hague has spent years obsessing over every detail that made the original sunburst Les Pauls of 1958 to 1960 the most revered production guitars ever made - the weight, the wood, the way nitrocellulose lacquer ages when it's applied correctly.

He sources old growth mahogany, Brazilian rosewood fretboards, and aged Eastern maple tops. He uses the same aniline dyes and nitro finish Gibson used in Kalamazoo in the 1950s. Every guitar is built entirely by hand, to the specific requirements of its owner.

This particular build is a '59 specification - the most sought-after year (as you'd imagine), the one that defined the template. The top is spectacular. The aging is honest.

In hand, the playability and responsiveness is immediately impressive. The neck profile feels close to a '57 reissue - a large/round profile, to be sure, but one that settles in comfortably after a few minutes of play. If you require a '60s-style neck, this one probably isn't for you. Worth knowing before you fall for everything else.

The overall feel is slinky and snappy, which translates beautifully once you're plugged in. From there, this LP-style build delivers those sought-after "Tele on steroids" tones - real bite and snap in the top end, coupled with that iconic LP midrange punch. What's harder to quantify is how the guitar feels old in a way that has nothing to do with the relic work. It's in the response - the way it moves under your hands and rewards your playing. That quality is rare in a newer instrument, and it's a large part of why Steve's guitars have earned the reputation they have.

Opportunities like this don't come around often, and when they do, they tend to move quickly.
