With nearly 30 years in the industry, Ron’s résumé speaks for itself: Fender’s sole inlay artist since 1995, founder of Thorn Guitars in 2000, and former Principal Master Builder and Director of Master Build Operations at the Fender Custom Shop.

In 2024, Ron re-launched Thorn Guitars and we’re proud to be his exclusive dealer. Even better? We’ve just received another batch of SoCal C/S models.

At first glance, the SoCal C/S may look unconventional. But that offset body isn’t just for show, it’s a comfort-driven design that balances perfectly in a seated position and naturally angles the neck for ideal playing posture. Subtle? Yes. Brilliant? Absolutely.

The neck is where this guitar truly disappears in your hands: a medium-C carve, 10" radius, seamless “hidden” fret ends, no string tree (thanks to Ron's neck angle), and Ron’s ultra-stable dovetail neck joint. It’s built to feel effortless - no fight, no fuss - just flow.

Electronics? Expect more than a Strat clone. Ron’s hand-wound VC-50 pickups and unique wiring deliver a wider tonal palette: chimey cleans, gritty breakup, and searing leads with expanded range and punch. It’s a sonic playground for players who love touch sensitivity and tonal nuance.

Rounding it out is Ron’s trio of bridge options: a hardtail, a 1-piece tremolo, and a 2-piece setup featuring the “Brass Knuckle” saddle and expressive vibrato system. The hardtail model, featured here, offers enhanced resonance and a lighter overall feel.
