Product information

Excellent, handmade A-style mandolin from this highly regarded Seattle archtop luthier.

Steve Andersen follows in a line of American archtop guitar makers who also excelled as mandolin builders—think Monteleone, or John Zeidler. As to be expected, this A5 exhibits the same stellar attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship as Andersen's guitars.

The mandolin strikes a lovely balance between a traditional, dry bluegrass sound and something a touch more modern. Playability on the rounded-V neck is excellent. The blank, bound ebony fingerboard, the vintage sunburst and gold hardware collectively make for a clean, classy look. A great value and and an exciting find in a versatile, single-luthier A-style mandolin.
