1951 Gibson TG-50 tenor guitar just into the shop!
This is a rather remarkable example of Gibson's L-50 styled tenor that was professionally outfitted early on with a Dearmond electric tenor pickup!
It's about as full and rich of a tenor experience as you can get from this period, and a total joy to play. The original fretwire is still in very nice shape, and the neck geometry allows for nice comfortably low action with room to adjust at the bridge.
The Dearmond tenor pickup functions just like its 6-string version, with a clear, open voice that captures the natural acoustic tone of the instrument very well. It's mounted to an aftermarket pickguard and wired internally to an endpin jack for ease of use.
The original Kluson no line tuners function great, despite the button shrinkage that commonly occurs with them. They're working fine for now, so we've elected to leave them be. Its future owner may want to plan for button replacement at some point, however.
With the exception of some pick scratches on the top and light buckle rash on the back, you'd be hard pressed to find a cleaner early 50s TG-50. It includes an original and quite clean hardshell case- no wonder it's stayed so clean!
