The Collings 71, launched this year, brings the brand’s signature attention to detail and elegance into Tele-style territory. Built with a lightweight ash body, finished here in Aged Jet Black, and tipping the scales at just 7lbs, it’s a clear nod to California but through a distinctly Collings lens.
From the Rutters bridge and hand-poured tortoise guard to the Ron Ellis T-style pickups, every detail has been dialed in for tone, feel, and musicality. The soft V maple/rosewood neck has a familiar Clapton-esque feel, and the flawless fretwork makes it a breeze to play.
Even unplugged, this guitar comes alive - it's snappy, resonant, and responsive. And thanks to the factory 10–46 string gauge, the tension is looser than typical Collings electrics, giving it a slinkier, more relaxed feel right out of the case.
