Product information

Vintage feel, modern clarity - the Lentz Traditional is alive in your hands and dialed in from the first note.

What makes a Lentz guitar stand out often becomes clear the moment you wrap your hand around the neck, and on this build, it’s perfectly carved maple neck with an upgraded Brazilian rosewood fingerboard that immediately sets the tone. Scott Lentz and his son, Scott Jr., have long worked from a prized stash of old-growth tonewoods, most of it seasoned in-house over decades. That kind of patience pays off: these guitars offer exceptional resonance, rock-solid stability, and a tonal depth you can feel as much as hear.

Every Lentz feels alive in a way that’s hard to describe until you’ve played one. The pickups are hand-wound specifically for each instrument, and every aspect of the voicing, down to the wiring and component matching, is done with serious intent and care. The result is a remarkably expressive guitar: rich, harmonically complex, and powerful without ever feeling overwound or compressed.

On this Traditional model, the neck and middle pickups are lower output and paired with a hotter bridge pickup - but the tones are anything but shy. The bridge pickup delivers classic Strat character, though hotter output-wise, with none of the shrill top-end that can plague some Strats. It's full, articulate, and super responsive, with a natural sweetness and just the right amount of grit and midrange. Even the tone controls are thoughtfully voiced and actually usable, something you’ll notice within a few notes.

In short, this is the kind of instrument that rewards nuance, brings out your voice as a player, and quietly reminds you how good a Strat-style guitar can be when everything is done right. Now that Scott Lentz and his son have officially retired, the window to grab one of these exceptional instruments is closing. If you’re after your forever Strat, this might just be it.
