The Piatta is light as air - almost disarmingly so the first time you pick it up. This one is especially stunning - a lightly aged Oxblood / Doghair finish (!) - and weighs in at just 6lbs 7oz. The result? A perfectly balanced, agile, lightning-quick instrument with no headstock dive and a ton of personality.

That feel carries through in the playing experience: smooth fretwork, clean lines, effortless playability, and killer tones. Ron's own GT-90 staple P90 (neck) and a Ron Ellis "Signature" humbucker in the bridge push the Piatta into punchy, snarling, yet clear and articulate territory. It's a more versatile setup vs 2 P90s or 2 humbuckers, further expanding the Piatta's appeal.

Through a British-voiced 15-watt amp (from a new builder we’ll be shouting about very soon), this guitar just comes alive. Rock players especially will find a lot to love here, but, this guitar can flex into just about any lane you want.

All told, it’s just outstanding stuff. But really, what else would you expect from Ron Thorn?
