Northfield has hit upon a serious, winning combination with their five-bar Artist model. The Engelmann spruce top is an excellent platform for their harmonically rich, wide-frequency-response bracing pattern. Single notes on this mandolin have a lovely, round pop with great body, while the whole mandolin  boasts a vibrant, easy responsiveness. If you are looking for a bluegrass banjo killer, this might not be the ticket. But if you favor a both rich and sprightly mandolin tone in a nicely appointed and very well executed F-style, the Artist Five Bar is worth a play.

This mandolin comes to us in excellent overall condition, with just minimal light back scratches among the few signs of prior ownership.

Includes the original hardshell case.

  • Engelmann Spruce
  • One-piece maple back
  • Hybrid varnish finish
  • Flamed maple neck
  • 1 1/8" nut
  • Ebony fingerboard, bridge, and bound pickguard
  • Ivoroid binding w/ multiple purflings
  • Northfield/Gilchrist tailpiece
