It's been a while since we've had one of Jim Merrill's guitars in the shop; and this 2010 C-28 is a great reminder that when he gets it right he REALLY gets it right. This is a monster of a guitar, which we sold when it was new back in 2010. Time has only made it better. It's been played, and it's also had 13 years to dry and settle in, leaving the finish fully cured and the guitar resonant as a bell. The sound of this instrument is squarely cut from the pre-war Martin cloth. It's woody, open, clear, and warm all at once. It's also beautifully responsive for a dreadnought ~ a great choice for a flatpicker who plays all over the fingerboard a la Tony Rice.
Condition: we'd call it very good PLUS, only because the very thin finish shows some minor signs of wear directly under the treble strings. The finish itself, again, is super-thin and has had some time to sink into the pores of the wood. There's also a small amount of play wear on the back of the neck near the heel -- it's difficult to photograph and is, for all intents and purposes, imperceptible when playing the guitar. Priced with its original hard case. On consignment; shipping calculated at checkout.
