The quintessential American classical mandolin, ever innovative in design and unique in tone. We are betting you haven't encountered a gilded example like this. If you have, we want to see it!

This Lyon & Healy Style A Professional surely stands as one of the more unique vintage mandolins to come through our shop. Featuring the shorter, 13" scale and asymmetrical two-point body design, this is one of the better sounding L&H mandolins we have heard to date. It is easy to understand why classical players find these mandolins so appealing, particularly for intimate, solo repertoire.

The show stopper, of course, is the incredibly intricate floral motif that adorns the top and back. The design and fine execution of the gold leaf and red ink is unsurpassed in our experience, and elevates the already distinctive Lyon & Healy aesthetic to new heights.

Far from all original, the mandolin features a replaced fingerboard and new bridge, making for an easy-playing instrument with proper action and much-improved intonation. The instrument retains its original tuners, volcanized fiber headstock plate, pickguard, extendable knee rest, and lyre tailpiece. The instrument comes to us from a prolific, professional recording artist, and remains in very good overall condition.

If you have been on the hunt for a vintage mandolin for classical play, or just want a dulcet-toned, easy-to-play instrument that responds beautifully to a light attack, you would be hard pressed to find a more striking choice.

Priced with period-correct (and likely original) hard-shell case.
