The Josh Williams Mockingbird stands on its own in the crowded semi-hollow electric market with stellar build quality, exceptional playability, and tones that are exactly what we want in a great semi-hollow.

If you're on the guitar forums or are doing a guitar related deep-dive on YouTube with your downtime, you've probably heard of Josh Williams and his remarkable Mockingbird model. Players like Josh Smith, Ariel Posen, Joey Landreth, and Drew Shirley have been singing Josh’s praises, and after spending time with a handful of his guitars, it's clear why.

Inspired by iconic Gibson designs, Josh’s guitars feature similar woods, construction methods, and pickup configurations—but these aren't meant to be 'simple' replicas. The Mockingbird brings its own unique vibe to the table, offering a more refined feel that’s somewhere between a Collings and a Gibson. This isn’t to compare or diminish Josh’s work, but rather to give you a sense of the level of craftsmanship and playability we're looking at here.

The Ron Ellis Bette bridge humbucker offers really inspiring upper-midrange bite and snarl while the neck pickup stays clear and articulate yet is round and warm sounding, even when pushed with gain pedals.

The neck carve is another highlight—it’s slightly chunky but incredibly comfortable, with a .89” measurement at the first fret that feels just right in hand. Think slightly chunky ES-335 and you'll be in the ball park.

We can’t say enough good things about Josh's Mockingbird. It's the perfect guitar for players who aren’t quite connecting with a Gibson but aren’t ready to make the jump to higher-priced options like Collings. Kudos to Josh and his team for creating something truly special!
