1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Natural finish just in on consignment!
We've got a thing for all things Natural when it comes to Gibson guitars. Regardless of the era, they just seem to all exude a little extra class, and have this unique ability to contrast and support the look of other tonewoods, the hardware, and the plastics.
This is a great transitional example of a late 70s Custom, featuring the 3-piece Maple neck construction as opposed to Mahogany, and back to a one-piece Mahogany body with carved Maple top after nearly 8 years of the "pancake" era bodies.
The necks from this era are slim and fast with a meaty taper, but not flattened out on the back like early 60s necks can be. It's very comfortable to play, and the original frets are in great shape.
It's a very clean LP overall, and while a few parts have been changed out, it has its original finish, is free of breaks or repairs, and has its original Patent Stamp humbuckers which sound fantastic! The pickup mounting rings were swapped out (existing rings were cracked and reglued in a few spots and were a bit touchy), and both volume pots have been replaced where the originals had failures at the internal shafts. The knobs were also replaced, as the prior aftermarket knobs didn't quite seat properly on the pots.
The guitar is accompanied by a modern Gibson hardshell case that's in great shape, missing just one latch on the treble side.
