Loaded with a set of Ron Ellis Bette humbuckers gives this 620 a voice like no other, with a punchy, well defined tone reminiscent of some of our favorite early 60s set-neck electrics. The Bettes handle gain incredibly well, which has this 620 easily copping a bit of an LP voice with a rich and quick attack. Yet the semi-hollow construction elicits an airier, more open quality to the notes that we often associate in a great 335.

While it's easy to draw comparisons to some of our favorite vintage electrics, there's no doubt that the 620 has a voice all its own. The Collings DNA is inarguable - the fit, finish, and feel are unparalleled, all without feeling stiff or over-engineered. A hard line to balance, but the Austin, TX builders do it oh-so-well.

We're blown away by this new model, and feel like it'll represent Collings in the brightest of lights for years to come.
