Perhaps the best part of playing this guitar is its responsiveness under a flatpick: it's got a lightning-quick attack one rarely gets from anything besides a vintage Martin.
The folks at Atkin Guitars built this 00037 on spec; and we were lucky enough to nab it when it was completed. Essentially, it's one of their 00037 models with a couple handsome upgrades: pearl rosette, bound fingerboard, and snowflake-and-diamonds inlay motif. And for what it's worth, the rosewood chosen for this guitar befits a style-42 guitar from any maker! This guitar is absolutely wonderful-sounding; more than one TME staffer would consider it the pick of the shop right now. The low end is substantial and focused for a small-bodied guitar, and the overall voice is incredibly thick and full of interesting overtones.
Perhaps the best part of playing this guitar is its responsiveness under a flatpick: it's got a lightning-quick attack one rarely gets from anything besides a vintage Martin, and lacks nothing in the way of clarity. Can you tell we like this one?
Atkin's aged finish has light finish checking by design. The back has prominent finish cracking near the center seam. Call for an in-hand description!
