Product information

With the newly adapted "Silverface" cosmetics, this 1968 Fender Vibro Champ kept its mid-60s tone intact with a fresh look to close out the decade.

1968 Fender Vibro Champ just into the shop! Second to the Princeton Reverb, they're widely regarded as one of the best low-wattage combos that Fender ever put out. Perfect for home use, studio work, and the occasional mellow gig, the Vibro Champ represents the final evolution of the heralded Champ circuit with wonderful 60s Fender tone.

1968 was a big transitional year for Fender in both instrument and amplifier production. The Vibro Champ circuit remained largely unchanged throughout the 60s, with the cosmetic "upgrade" of '68 being the most notable. The introduction of the "Silverface" panel along with an aluminum drip edge border around the baffle and some new grill cloth gave the Fender amplifier lineup a freshening up of sorts, without changing much of the innards until later in the year and into '69.

The amp was just serviced by Stan Day, who took care of some out-of-spec cathode caps and a handful of resistors. There's some tolex damage on the front right side of the cabinet as well as where the back panel meets the rear edge of the cabinet, but it's all stable. Grill cloth shows some moderate fraying on the upper right area. Rubber feet were also installed adjacent to the original glides, and back panel screws were replaced. It's got a great sounding Weber Signature 8" alnico speaker installed in it as well.

**Please Note: All vintage amplifiers - regardless of service history - contain electronic components that will eventually require replacement or repair. This is often unpredictable and should be expected as a vintage amplifier owner. We are not responsible for additional service upon receipt.**
