The Stella Semi-Hollow model finds Josh Williams exploring what we feel would make an excellent alternative to the larger bodied ES-335 due to its smaller body. Said another way, if you love your Les Paul and want a semi-hollow, this might just be your ideal guitar.
Featuring a curly maple top, semi-hollow mahogany body, mahogany neck w/a rosewood fingerboard, 24.75" scale length, and twin Lollar humbuckers, the Stella semi-hollow pulls from a well-proven combination of specs.
This is where a builder's unique vision takes these proven specs and yields something unique and inspiring. Josh has taken all of the aspects of the great Gibson semi-hollows and rolled them into a really fun, musical, and tone-filled instrument, just minus the size.
The Stella semi's 14" wide body feels quite a bit more manageable than a traditional semi-hollow which measures 16" across. It balances really well and we were having a blast just playing it acoustically - but - let's get it plugged in, right?
The Lollar standard wind Imperials would fantastic in this guitar. Great midrange presence along with sweet trebles and punch bass. Clean tones? Gorgeous. Overdriven? Exactly what you want - versatile, great bite in the bridge pickup, round "jazzy" neck pickup tones.
Like all of Josh's guitars, the build quality is outstanding. These are such cool guitars and we're proud to represent his work.
