This 1960 Gibson J-50 has just arrived for consignment! It's a great-sounding example of the model, with impressive power, focus, and openness in the low end for a guitar made in this era. This J-50 would make a wonderful, do-it-all workhorse for anyone who's been pondering the idea of adding a vintage guitar to their stable. Its beautiful, chimey tone makes for a great recording sound whether you're using a pick or bare fingers. And it's got a particularly nice punch in the low end that places it a cut above some more ordinary-sounding instruments from the early 1960's.
On the vintage guitar scale, we'd put the condition of this instrument somewhere between "very good" and "excellent." It's in beautiful cosmetic shape, with no unsightly blemishes and only the standard finish checking one would expect. The neck has never been reset, and the original adjustable saddle still leaves plenty of room to maneuver. Our shop has given it a fresh setup, and it plays easily. Priced with a period hardshell case.
