Product information

"Player-grade" Martin D-18s don't come much better than this: it's a great-sounding example of an early 1960's, old-factory guitar, with a couple small repairs that keep the price below premium-level. This D-18 is loud and wide open, with huge low end for a non-scalloped guitar, and those bright, woody trebles perfect for playing fiddle tunes up the neck. For a bluegrass guitarist in search of their first vintage guitar, we don't think there's a better candidate out there at the moment.

This guitar remains in very good overall condition. The bridge has been replaced ~ it's a well-made, good-looking replacement with a modern drop-in bone saddle. The guitar has also been re-fretted; and a new bone nut has been installed. All internal components (bracing & bridge plate) are original and in good condition. Two small back cracks have been repaired; the top shows only normal play wear and the lacquer crazing expected with age. This guitar is priced with a non-original hardshell case.
