1930's Martin D-18s don't just appear every day; and they're always worth celebrating for their clear, woody, penetrating sound that's the envy of, well, every other acoustic guitar. This 1936 D-18 has traveled many a road; and it's been with its current owner since the early 1980's (we have no knowledge of its ownership history or pedigree before that time). It's among the lightest dreadnoughts we can remember encountering; and it's effortlessly resonant and responsive to a flatpicked attack. This D-18 has been played A LOT in its day (just look at that crazy cool wear on the top!). Consequently, it's had a number of repairs, which were all thought of as matters of routine maintenance for many decades. The bridge and bridge plate have been replaced ~ and it appears that the back was removed and re-bound when the original bridge plate was removed. The back has been refinished, and the top has been oversprayed. The fingerboard has been refretted, and the tuners have been replaced with Schallers (the original tuners are not included). The finish on the back of the neck has been smoothed out to a matte texture from years of use, but feels wonderful in-hand. Priced with non-original hard case. On consignment.
