Have A Question?
Having spent five years at Collings, Joe Parker’s attention to detail and craftsmanship shine through, making the Magretti feel almost flawless in hand.
One of our favorite things about electric guitars is how endlessly customizable they are. We all know the classics from Fender and Gibson, but dig a little deeper and you’ll find innovators like Paul Bigsby and Antonio Vandrè Pioli (if you’re unfamiliar, do yourself a favor and look them up!). The point is, electric guitars offer so much room for creativity.
Enter Joe Parker, a master builder from Eugene, Oregon, and his incredible Magretti model. With its mix of materials—alder, figured cherry, rosewood—and features like bolt-neck construction and a 25 1/2" scale, the Magretti feels both modern and like a forgotten gem from the '60s. The design gives a subtle nod to offset bodies (think Fender Jazzmaster), and the deep German carves on the swamp ash body add movement and depth while keeping comfort top of mind.
The ivoroid-bound figured Cherry neck with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard, Oval C carve, and medium nickel frets offers a familiar, vintage feel. Having spent five years at Collings, Joe’s attention to detail and craftsmanship shine through, making the Magretti feel almost flawless in hand.
Equipped with Gemini Twin Mag Single Coil pickups, a Mastery bridge/trem, and Gotoh locking tuners, the Magretti delivers tones reminiscent of a Gretsch Duo Jet-meets-Les Paul—clear, strong fundamentals, perfect for clean or edge-of-breakup sounds. And the trem? Expressive and stable, with no tuning issues to worry about.
We could keep going, but we’ll just say this: we, along with former Fender Masterbuilder Jay Black, are huge fans of Joe’s work. Like some of our favorite builders—Joe Yanuziello, Scott Heatley, Saul Koll, Damian Probett, to name a few—Joe creates functional works of art. This is one you don’t want to miss!
