This is a particularly excellent example of Gibson's now-infamous student model electric, and was recently acquired by a great local customer of ours who'd purchased it from the family of the original owner!

By most accounts we'd consider this an uncirculated guitar, as it hasn't been formally for sale since it was purchased some decades ago.

In its 3rd year of production, the doublecut Junior saw its biggest change by way of a new neck carve we know as the Slim Taper C. Unlike the fuller, fatter, carves of 1958 and 1959, the '60 has a thinner speedier neck with a much leaner taper than its predecessors. Beyond that, the core elements of the build remain the same- 1 11/16" nut width, full length tenon, single dogear P90 pickup, black bonnet knobs, and a lightweight aluminum wraparound bridge/tailpiece.

Although it shows expected wear for a 65 year old guitar, it's clear that it was well cared for over the years. The original Cherry finish is still rich and vibrant with minimal fading, and the original frets still feel great under-hand after some light TLC here in our shop.

What's most impressive, perhaps, is the tone of the original P90 pickup. It's putting out a staggering 10.78k output, and plugging it in for the first time, it's easy to understand how powerful this Junior really is. It's got a noticeable amount of low end and low mid response that gives this "100 Watt" feel, if that makes sense. Even with the added tonal weight, it lacks nothing in terms of clarity and cut, just like a great old Junior should.

With the exception of a replaced nut, the guitar remains otherwise factory original. It's paired with an aftermarket hardshell case that offers nice protection in lieu of those original gator chipboards that often came with these guitars. We're also including a photo of the original owner in his teens, seated with this very guitar.
