While it's common knowledge that the 1970s brought with it some quality control issues for CBS-owned Fender, there are always exceptions to the rule.
For starters, this Strat is no boat anchor - not even close. It weighs in at 7lbs 9oz on our scale, and feels perfectly balanced both seated and using a strap. Second, it has a fantastic playing neck with a very comfortable profile and lean taper. It's also got stagger-pole pickups, which gave way to flatpoles later in the year - a rather noticeable tonal difference in our opinion!
The wood gods seemed to have blessed this build - check out the beautiful figure of the Ash body and the mix of birdseye and flame in the Maple neck! It's always nice when the high-quality looks are matched with the tone of the guitar too. Punchy and clear, with the woodiness of a great Ash/Maple combination that has been going strong since 1954.
The guitar has been very well maintained over the last 50 years and only has a replaced tone knob and a missing back plate to show for any notable changes. The original frets show some light wear but playability is still very nice with comfortable, low action.
Ships with a Mooradian padded gig bag.
