Product information

If you're ready to enter the realm of great-sounding vintage Martins, and you're looking for a guitar that won't command museum-level prices, read on...

Wearing two pickguards, and bearing resemblance to the '48 D-28 owned by Billy Strings, this is a dynamite-sounding bluegrass guitar for a player interested in a vintage Martin sitting below top-of-market prices.

This guitar exhibits the wonderful combination of punch and shimmer that's unique to non-scalloped late 1940's Martins. Digging in with a flatpick elicits beautiful, warm tones; and placing a capo up the neck produces another dimension of shimmer perfectly suited to fingerstyle vocal accompaniment.

Aside from the aforementioned second pickguard, this guitar has had a new bridge, new nut, new saddle, and new tuners installed in the recent past.

The inside of the guitar is very clean; and all braces, and the bridge plate, are original and intact. The back of the neck has had a 'speed neck' treatment, with the original finish matted down to a less tacky, satin texture.

The body finish has likely been oversprayed, though it still looks great and shows lovely patina. Our shop has lowered the existing saddle; and the guitar plays cleanly, with action at 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" (treble side) under tension of medium strings.

Price includes Canadian-made Calton Case. On consignment; shipping calculated at checkout.
