Product information

A true workingman's hollowbody electric, the Gibson ES-125 remains as one of the very best in its class.

1959 Gibson ES-125 just in from the family of the original owner!

It's not often we see Gibson's utilitarian hollowbody electric survive this long in this kind of condition. Widely known as a workingman's guitar, the ES-125s we typically encounter have been played extensively throughout their respective lives. Even moreso, the late 50s examples get their valuable parts poached for more expensive electrics from the same period. It's so nice to see such a clean and whole 125!

We wish we had more of a story to tell on this guitar, but the truth is that it was a seldom played instrument that was fortunate to have been stored properly throughout its life. Aside from previous tailpiece failure and subsequent repair, it's about as straight as they come. The neck has a wonderfully full C carve with original medium jumbo frets, and the original P90 sounds heavenly, with plenty of output to pair with the woody acoustic punch this guitar possesses.

It's paired up with its original chipboard case that has also survived quite well. While a modern hardshell might not be the worst investment for its next owner, the original is doing a nice job of keeping it safe and clean.
